In our Play School app, Shape it Up asks children to look for the simple shapes that make up more complex things. In the presentation part of this game, students watch a little animation of how houses, cars and other elements in their environment are made up of simple shapes. In the practice stage, they’re asked to try their hands at building objects with simple shapes. And in the final production stage, they’re ready for game play!
Encourage your child to look at objects in their home environment and identify shapes that are familiar with them. Consider asking them to draw what they see. For example, if they had to represent their rooms, they can think about using rectangles for cupboards, squares for tables and TVs, a circle for a clock etc.
